Sorry it has been so long

I know that there are many of you out there that follow my every move and for that I am sorry that I haven't kept this up to date.  So a little recap.  I quit my job at Circuit City and now am a Communication Specialist for the City of Temple Texas.  It is a pretty cool job so far and I am enjoying.  Essentially I am keeping their website up to date and managing all of the programming for the government access channel 10.  Crystal and I have moved in with another couple to try this whole communal living thing.  I wouldn't say that it is the easiest thing that we have ever done, but I know that it has taught me a lot so far.  I switched my jeep over to power brakes, which was a pain in the butt. I had to run all new brake lines and install a new proportioning valve.  This biggest project I am working on right now is building a privacy fence.  Oh man, has this been an issue.  My neighbor is also my landlord and the one paying for everything so I kind of have to listen to him.  He knows nothing about it.  I will talk to him and them he goes in side reads about it on the web and then comes back outside and either changes something or has to go buy something different.  A weekend project has turned into a week and a half so far and we still don't have a building permit for every thing yet.  It is freakin' driving me crazy.  Well the good news is that my mom has been finding some really great deals on plants and has been bringing them to us so soon we will have an actual backyard that has been landscaped.  Any way all is well. I should be able to update this thing a little more often.

Some things are just hard to tell people

I mean no matter how many people that Crystal and I tell that we are moving in with another married couple, it just doesn't get easier. They always say "that sounds like fun." or "that's a lot of dogs".

So for those who don't know we are moving in with some very good friends of ours Joe and Charlotte. It is a three bedroom house with a pretty cool back yard and deer everywhere. The main reason that we got there was a realization that we spend more on our apartment than we should. I mean a lot more. We all have been talking about moving in together since last summer but the opportunity had just never presented itself. We are moving a little here and there. We just brought the lawn mower over there yesterday and I had forgotten how much I enjoy yard work. The smell of fresh cut grass is a beautiful thing.

There will be more post coming about this ongoing adventure. Sorry for the long hiatus, but most of the things that are shaping my life are things that I can really blog about. So I will fill you in when the time is right.

The World thru Others Eyes

Lately I have been thinking that people must see the world differently. I know that that is not very profound, but is a reality that has just hit me. I mean when I look at the world I see something totally different than what you see. People place there motives and values on other people and it amazes me. Competitive people think the world is one big competition and the only way to get people motivated is to say, "hey, look someone is beating you. You better hurry and catch up!!"

This is why I think that any type of love is a good thing (okay not any, but most). Because even though I may not agree with every part of what they do they still teach about a loving God. And He is the one who touches people's lives.

Imagine if you could take the time to actually see what they see. The world through so many different biases.

I just think it would be a very eye opening experience to see the world through your eyes.

Oh yeah, I still don't know what I wanna be when I grow up.

Causing others to stumble

So I was just reading about the idea of sin on myfourwalls and looking through the comments and one of them got me to thinking.

The comment was essentially along the lines of drinking is not a sin, but when you add Paul's insight of do not cause others to stumble, the commenter deduced that you shouldn't drink alcohol in front of those that do think it is a sin. This is where I see the problem. It just seems to me that if we continue to support bad theology we can never expect change in others. I just think that it is perpetuating legalistic tendencies.

Any thoughts??
